Today, July 20, is the Independence Day of Colombia, commemorating the declaration of its autonomy in 1810. Situated in northern South America, Colombia is rich in history and culture. Its Gold Museum, in the capital city of Bogotá, houses the world’s largest collection of worked gold with extraordinary examples of indigenous pieces. San Agustín Archaeological Park, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site, has South America’s most extensive group of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures. Its 500 immense stone statues reflect the creativity and beliefs of the northern Andean community who lived there during the 1st to 8th century. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site is Colombia’s Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary. It is the vastest no-fishing zone in the Eastern Tropical Pacific. Colombia also has the most cable stations broadcasting Supreme Master Television in the Americas. Thank you, Colombia, and Happy Independence Day in God’s abundant blessing and protection.
